Fiji Floods Donors:

Re: Update for your information and continued request to raise funds to support the rehabilitation of the village to help over 1000 farmers. Following is the detailed report from Shree Jao Dayal Ji.

On 4th, 5th, and 6th of April - daily 1,500 plates of hot food cooked by Hare Krishna Society with support of VHP Fiji. This will continue whole of next week. By then we would have served 18,000 plates of cooked food. Food is cooked at Dayals residence, Ba. VHP of Fiji is seeking help to serve more families in the area.

On 5th April - 25 families attended, 6th April - 51 families attended and on Sunday April 8th Fiji VHP is hoping to serve 124 families. If we are able to raise more funds we will be go for another 200 households. Each family packs serves 5 people.

We are now working on farming seed funding for farmers from Nukuloa,Moto, Vatusui, Tabataba, Toge, Balevuto and Nacaci. These farmers have lost 100% of their vegetable farms and I have personally visited them today to witness the massive heart aching loss. The mean cost of seeds per farmer is F$112.

Total of 1,000 farmers are engaged in vegetable farming and desperately need assistance. I am now preparing a Farmers Rehabilitation Project Paper to be submitted to VHP UK and VHP USA for their support. The total needed for this project would be about F$112,000. Our VHP members need to ensure that we are successful in this ambitious project. It will help farmers come back to their normal lives and will also generate economy in the farming sector.

Medical camp needs to be setup - I am now in discussion with Ramakrishna Mission so that this time around VHP Fiji is fully engaged in Ba and Tavua district which is worst hit.

Every day when we visit people we find tears of joy and a sigh of little relief. People are shaken up, they are in desperate need of help and only if we are able to tactfully handle the current situation we will be able to help a lot of these victims.

My humble plea to you all - please do not slowdown the momentum and extend your help to us.

God bless.

Yours faithfully
